Students interested in pursuing a post-secondary degree in a medical field such as nursing, pharmacy, veterinary medicine, dentistry, or therapy would benefit from taking the Advanced Medical preparedness program. The program offers work-based learning opportunities such as clinical rotations, job shadowing, and simulated patient-care scenarios, fostering professionalism, ethical decision-making, and an understanding of healthcare systems. There is a 3.0 GPA and attendance requirement for this program.

What You Will Learn:

• Foundations: basic medical terminology, growth and development, nutrition, heath maintenance practices and healthcare delivery, knowledge and technical skills required for infection control and the prevention of disease transmission, CPR and First Aid.

•Skills ranging from basic patient care to more advanced, students will develop a solid foundation from which to build upon. With completion of requirements, students would be eligible for certification as a patient care technician. In addition, students may seek to pursue further certification in EKG and Phlebotomy.

What You Can Earn:

• 21 Hours of College Credit. • Patient Care technician. • American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification. • American Heartsaver. • First Aid Certification. • Stop the Bleed Certification. • OSHA-10 Healthcare Certification.
