Project Lead The Way (PLTW) is an innovative one-year pre-engineering program designed to introduce students to the dynamic world of engineering. By engaging in hands-on, project-based learning, students delve into the core disciplines of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), which are integral to solving real-world problems. The program emphasizes the application of engineering principles in practical, real-world scenarios, giving students the opportunity to tackle engineering challenges that professionals face daily.

Throughout the course, students will develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills as they work on collaborative projects that mirror actual engineering processes. They will gain exposure to a wide range of engineering fields, from mechanical to civil to electrical engineering, while learning how these areas interconnect in the modern world. By focusing on practical applications, students gain a deep understanding of how science and mathematics are utilized to design and create solutions to everyday challenges.

What You Will Learn:

• Engineering Design and Development: Students dig deep into the engineering design process, applying math, science, and engineering standards to hands-on projects like designing a new toy or improving an existing product.

• Principles of Engineering: Students explore how modern engineers help improve the world through diverse engineering fields, such as product design, mechanical design, infrastructure, and sustainability. Students learn and use some of the cutting-edge tools engineers use in robotics, 3D modeling, programming, and prototyping.

• Civil Engineering and Architecture: Students learn important aspects of building and site design and development, and then they apply what they know to design a commercial building.

• Enviromental Stability: Investigate environmental issues and uses the design process, both individually and collaboratively to research and design solutions to real-world challenges.
