This program offers a sequence of courses that provides coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in the Health Science education pathway; provides technical skill proficiency, and includes competency-based applied learning that contributes to the academic knowledge, higher-order reasoning and problem-solving skills, work attitudes, general employability skills, technical skills, and occupation-specific skills. The program is designed to prepare students for employment as pharmacy technicians.

 

Program Length:

One year (Optional 2nd year to Therapeutic Services)

What You Will Learn:

• Foundations: basic medical terminology, growth and development, nutrition, health maintenance practices and healthcare delivery, knowledge and technical skills required for infection control and the prevention of disease transmission, CPR and First Aid

PTCB: Self‐paced curriculum, an online curriculum approved by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). This system allows the student to gain the knowledge and skills required for certification and entry level employment as a Pharmacy Technician.

What You Can Earn:

• CPR and AED Certification • Stop the Bleed Certification • OSHA-10 Healthcare Certification • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) 

 

Career Opportunities:

Immediate Employment

Pharmacy Technicians work in pharmacies located in hospitals, drug stores, doctors’ offices and grocery stores.
