CTE month isn't over just yet! Let's introduce the next round of our Alumni Showcase! We love hearing how a student's time at the MOVTI positively impacted their future!

What a HUGE Multi-program collaboration today! Carpentry, Building Maintenance, Welding, Diesel, CEM Tech, and Industrial Equipment Maintenance students worked under Mr. Becker's direction to install trusses on our future training building!

Check out the first round of our MOVTI Graduate Showcase! These individuals are killing it in the workforce or college... or BOTH!

Today, Ada Chen (RC) passed the Adobe Certified Professional- Digital Video using Premiere Pro with an AMAZING score of 954 out of 1000! By passing the test, she earned her Adobe Certified Professional certificate in Video design.
We also want to share HUGE news and congratulate Ada for being invited to represent West Virginia and compete in Certiport’s 2024 Adobe Certified Professional U.S. National Championship in Orlando, Florida this summer! Congratulations on this major achievement!

Welding did it again! Chandler Ash (TC), earned his TIG Root E7018 Fill & Cap certification.
Earning welding certifications in high school helps provide students with valuable, industry-recognized skills that can lead to immediate employment after graduation!

Today let's check out Mr. Becker's Carpentry and Building Maintenance and Operations programs. His students have been working to construct a two-story simulation lab that will serve as a multifunctional learning space. The ground level will be used for storage, while the second level will house different training pods focused on plumbing, electrical work, drywall installation and finishing, among other skills. This building provides a valuable opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in various areas of the trade. Did we mention the students are completing the construction of the training building from start to finish!?

Let's give a shoutout to Mr. Mossor and his Diesel Equipment Technology students! Recently, they've been working to replace a fuel injection pump on a 2016 Chevy Duramax for a customer. Mr. Mossor is all about giving his students real-world learning experiences.
We also wanted to mention, he's a MOVTI alum and a former SkillsUSA champion!

The Law & Public Safety class recently concluded their unit on gangs. As part of the unit, students had to create a PowerPoint on an assigned gang to present to their class.
They were required to research information on the gang, including details like the gang's symbols, size, territory, as well as their recruitment and initiation processes. Knowledge about gangs will equip law enforcement officers with the tools needed to protect themselves, the community and to address criminal activities more comprehensively.
The students received English credit for this project, and they were able to get help from our English teacher, Mrs. Redin.

Today we are featuring our fearless future educators of the Grow Your Own program! Mrs. Redin's group of girls divide their time between MOVTI and local elementary schools where they participate in field experience. During field experience, the students are involved in classroom activities, interacting with students and assisting the teachers as needed. This an excellent opportunity for future educators to gain skills and knowledge while planning their future education and career goals.

Pizza! Pizza! Our SkillsUSA students are selling Little Caesar's pizza kits until March 14. Click on the link below to purchase yours and they'll be shipped directly to your house! Proceeds will help pay for our competition next month!

This is a skill that will "stick" with our students! Diagnostic Services and Advanced Medical students practiced injections during class yesterday!

Today's spotlight is for Mr. Sims and his welding students, but also features collaboration with Mr. Becker's carpentry and building maintenance students. The truck featured in the photos got a new newly fabricated dumping flatbed per a customer's request.
The treated lumber sides were made and installed by Mr. Becker's students.
Here at the MOVTI, we work hard to incorporate program collaboration when possible! This is CTE!

Something to "chew" on😆... Therapeutic Services students are learning about the Digestive System. Each group had to measure out pieces of streamer to symbolize the length of sections of the digestive tract. The length of the streamers once taped together represents how long food travels to be fully digested.

Today's spotlight features Mr. Collins and his morning CEM Tech and afternoon Industrial Equipment Maintenance students. Under his supervision, his students wired and installed a 220v heater for the Automotive / Diesel program area. The heater was needed in a space that houses their air compressor. Understanding electricity is essential for a wide range of fields, including engineering, physics, and technology.

Woohoo! Welding students Skylar McCumbers (L), Emily Testerman (R), and Logan Jones all earned certifications this week!
Skylar and Emily (RC) - SMAW E6010 Root Pass, E7018 Fill & Cap
Logan (RC)- SMAW E7018 with backing strip.

Afternoon MOVTI Automotive students attended the West Virginia International Auto Show today in Charleston, WV.

Today's Program Spotlight is Mrs. Barnhart's Therapeutic Services!
Her students are participating at the Long-Term Care facility in order to gain their required 55 clinical hours to sit for the state Certified Nursing Assistant test. While at clinical, students are able to safely utilize the skills they have learned in the classroom at a healthcare setting with instructor supervision. Some skills that the students are using while in clinical include providing personal hygiene, communication, patient positioning/transferring, vital signs, bed-making, and infection control.

Today, Mr. Morehead's Emergency Services students had an exciting day of learning as they received hands-on experience with the childbirth simulator. This advanced technology allowed the instructor to vividly demonstrate a range of potential complications that can occur during labor, high-risk deliveries, and postpartum emergencies. It's crucial for future EMTs or healthcare professionals in an emergency setting to be well-prepared to handle the basics of delivering a baby.
